PAX Lineup Expands With Show Dedicated To Tabletop Games

Penny Arcade and ReedPop today announced PAX Unplugged, a show dedicated to tabletop gaming. This is the sixth PAX event, joining PAX West, PAX East, PAX South, PAX Aus, and PAX Dev.

The first-ever PAX Unplugged will take place November 17-19 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. In a news release today, organizers said PAX Unplugged will offer attendees much of what the other shows do, including the opportunity to play new and upcoming games, attend concerts, sit in on developer panels, and take part in tournaments. The difference is, for PAX Unplugged, everything is themed around tabletop gaming.

“PAX Unplugged will be a destination for attendees to share their common passions and socialize over board, card and other tabletop games, which have experienced a renaissance in recent years,” PAX said in a statement.

The existing PAX events already have dedicated tabletop sections and events, and those are not going away. “We will continue to have tabletop games at every PAX, but Unplugged will focus on stepping away from the TV, monitor and phone to foster face-to-face multiplayer experiences,” PAX said.

Tickets for PAX Unplugged go on sale this spring. You can visit the PAX Unplugged site to learn more.

PAX South is going on right now in San Antonio, Texas. The show runs through January 29.
