New WD Blue and SanDisk Ultra 3D SSDs feature fast 3D NAND technology.
Fancy upgrading your PC’s storage subsystems? WD’s new SSDs are looking like a solid – sorry about that – option for enthusiasts and gamers.
The new WD Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD – that is a LOT of acronyms! – features, unsurprisingly, 64-layer 3D NAND technology, which delivers lower power consumption and top performance. The drive is available in 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities, and in both 2.5in and M.2 2280 form-factors.
The SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD is more aimed at gamers wanting fast load times, and includes shock and vibration resistance, so you can ragequit Player Uknown’s Battlegrounds and then dump your PC on the floor. It comes in the same capacities as the WD Blue above, but only in a 2.5in form factor.
While the SanDisk Ultra may boast about the faster load times, both drives feature read and write speeds of up 560MB/s and 530MB/s sequentially. Both drives also start $99 suggested retail price.
